Assistant Director, Steward Observatory, University of Arizona
Dr. Richard Green is the Assistant Director for Government Relations of Steward Observatory at the University of Arizona. He just completed a rotation as Division Director for Astronomical Sciences at the NSF.
In 1992 he moved into management of the National Observatories. He was Director of Kitt Peak National Observatory from 1997 to 2005. He then moved back to the University of Arizona to be Director of the Large Binocular Telescope Observatory until 2013. He was also a member of two NASA science teams, one of which built STIS, while the other guided the development of FUSE. He served as Chair of the AURA Board of Directors from 2014-2017, which gave a valuable perspective on ground-space synergies.
