Deputy Director, Space Telescope Science Institute
Nancy A. Levenson’s research concentrates on active and star-forming galaxies and their obscuration, utilizing multi-wavelength observations and numerical simulations. She works to enable science as a leader of organizations that provide the international community with open access to astronomical facilities and data. She is currently the Deputy Director of the Space Telescope Science Institute. Previously, she had been the Deputy Director and Head of Science of Gemini Observatory. Dr. Levenson obtained her PhD at the University of California, Berkeley. She was a postdoctoral researcher at the Johns Hopkins University and a member of the faculty in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Kentucky, ultimately as the Jack and Linda Gill Associate Professor. She is also a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
