Director, Community Science and Data Center, National Optical Infrared Astronomy Lab
I am the Director of NSF’s National Optical/IR Astronomy Research Laboratory. Prior to this I was Vice President at the Giant Magellan Telescope Organization. I have been involved in the development and operation of large ground-based telescopes for twenty years. My scientific expertise lies in the study of galaxies in the early universe. This field of research relies heavily on coordination between ground- and space-based observatories. The 2020s and 30s will be particularly important times for ground-space synergy in the study of the early universe and the formation of galaxies and I am eager to build new connections within our community.
