Alan Boss is an astrophysicist at the Carnegie Institution who models the formation of stellar and planetary systems and heads the astrometric exoplanet search at Carnegie’s Las Campanas Observatory. Boss was a member of the National Academy of Science’s Astro 2010 EOS Program Panel, and more recently, the NAS’s Astrobiology Science Strategy Committee. Boss chairs both NASA’s Exoplanet Exploration Program Technology Assessment Committee and the Independent Review Team for the WFIRST Coronagraph. He participated in the US ELT activity and on a number of the White Papers about the US ELT effort submitted to Astro 2020. His third book on the history of exoplanet searches, Universal Life: An Inside Look Behind The Race to Discover Life Beyond Earth, was published in January by Oxford U. Press.
